H-MAP: Habitat Mapping for Action and Preparedness

H-MAP is a youth-led community mapping and a crowdsourced data platform to strengthen disaster preparedness, improve sanitation access, and accelerate emergency response in Habitat for Humanity Bangladesh communities.
Through this project, trained youth will collect and validate over 300 reports on local hazards, WASH (water, sanitation, hygiene) gaps, and vulnerable households, generating interactive maps. These maps will guide Habitat and municipal actors in prioritizing emergency shelter deployment, targeted WASH upgrades, and long-term housing improvements. The project will directly benefit 5,000+ low-income residents across selected communities by improving living conditions, disaster resilience, and access to services. Indirectly, municipal planners, NGOs, and neighboring communities will benefit from data-driven insights and replicable models for scaling up. By empowering youth as local resilience champions, H-MAP creates long-term impact, embedding digital tools and community voices into local housing, disaster, and sanitation strategies.
