Women for Climate: Empowering Future Changemakers in Climate Action

Chattogram, January 28, 2024 – Yesterday, the Center for Climate Change and Environmental Health, AUW, and Green Lead hosted a pioneering event titled “Women for Climate (W4C)” at the AUW Campus, Sun Valley Building, Chattogram. The interactive session brought together 41 female students from different universities, aiming to empower these future women leaders in the fight against climate change.

Innovative Session on Climate Change and WASH Sector Nexus

The event, which ran from 4 PM to 7 PM, was centered around the theme “Understanding the Climate Change-WASH Sector Nexus.” This engaging session was led by esteemed speakers Dr. Sayed Mohammad Nazim Uddin and Dr. Mst. Farzana Rahman Zuthi, who delved into the intricate relationship between climate change and the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) sector. Their insights highlighted the challenges posed by climate change, such as droughts, floods, and water scarcity, and emphasized the need for innovative solutions and resilient infrastructure.

Collaborative Learning and Empowerment

The event encouraged active participation, with students engaging in group activities designed to deepen their understanding and empower them to take action. The awarding of certificates to each participant symbolized not only their involvement but also their commitment to making a difference.
